Ride to Negril 2006 - "Ride for Life"

We have been reliably informed that:
Entry forms and Pledge forms are now available at selected bicycle shops around Kingston, as well as, at the office of the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS)
The pledge forms are for you to document your individual fund raising efforts on behalf of the JCS. Both forms are to be completed and turned into the JCS office by 4:00pm on October, 13th, 2006 (day before the ride).

The entry fee for residents is Ja$500 and non-residents (overseas) - US$30
The fee and and collected pledges are to be submitted at that time as well.
Participant (ID) Numbers will be issued by the JCS once everything is submitted.
The Number is to be worn by participants on The Ride for Life.
The Number will allow you to partake in the sponsored food stops etc.

On Wednesday, September 27th, 2006, the JCS will be holding a press conference to announce their plans for the special month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Of course, the Ride for Life will be announced as part of their activities. It is likely that the President of the Jamaica Cycling Federation, Vaughn Phang, will be a part of the press conference tomorrow.

Prize for most funds raised for the JCS - Weekend at a Sandals resort.
T-shirts will be given out with the participant numbers on submission of the forms etc. (No jerseys this year!) All transactions for the Ride for Life can be done at and through the JCS at their office -16 Lady Musgrave Rd., Kgn. 5. Forms can also be downloaded from the JCS website (under Current News and Upcoming Events) http://www.jamaicacancersociety.org

Profile of Ride to Golden Grove on Sunday

I am not sure where Van Damme comes up with these profiles from, but they sure make things look scary.

Cutters Mission Statement

Contrary to local belief, Cutters' existence has more to do with enjoying the ride than in cutting hapless riders at high speed.

(Although... dat feel sweet too...)

Road Race Results

The Cutters Cycling Club fielded four racing members in the National Road Race held last Sunday. The race was 85 grueling miles from Port Royal to Mandeville. It started at 9:00am - later than our usual finishing time. In other words, HOT SUN REACH DEM!

The following link will give you the official results on the Cycling Federation's website.

Our thanks and gratitude goes out to the four Cutters participants.

Unfortunately, Albert Millen (Satan) and Clayton White (Wheelbarrow) - did not finish.

However, our dear President, Mavin "Cutty Boo" Anderson, placed a respectable tenth over National Champions, O'Neil Samuels and Alden Clunes, and other strong riders such as Raydean Lawson (Westmoreland) and Martin Dennis (May Pen).

Of course, we are all extremely proud of our own Marloe Rodman - young Cutter from Spanish Town. He came in second only to Flowers (Dean Martin from May Pen) by a mere 43/100ths of a second. He was elated with his result and during a post race interview, he said that he did not know exactly where the finish line was and had reserve left to take the sprint from Flowers. Watch out guys, next time he will know!
Congratulations to both Marloe and Mavin! Keep it up, and we look forward to hearing good results in the National Time Trials and Criterium Races coming over the next two weekends.
